Every so often a wedding I've photographed gets picked up by a supplier. Always a small thrill. This one was different. Caroline Castigliano, the London bridal designer, chose Mrs Conway as her Christmas Eve Bride 2020 and featured six images from Mr and Mrs Conway's wedding on her official Instagram account. Charlotte's gown came from The Harrogate Wedding Lounge, with a veil by Helen Martin Veils. It is a long-sleeved, high-necked Castigliano wedding dress with a train that ran the full length of the walled-garden path and, up on the moor, caught the wind and did half my work for me. A wedding dress like that is better photographed moving, not stood still.
Designers see thousands of images of their own gowns, so what they choose to show says something. Six photographs from the day went onto Caroline Castigliano's official Instagram on Christmas Eve. The wedding dress on a real bride, in real Yorkshire weather, on her actual wedding day. Not a studio, not a showroom rail.
