Grantley Hall was called "Yorkshire's Poshest Hotel" on national television, and it is hard to argue once you have driven past the sculpted gardens and water features to the front door. It is a different scale of country house.
The Prep The Royal Suite
Sarah got ready in the Royal Suite and Cameron in the Presidential Suite. Rooms like that change how a morning feels, and the pictures show it.
Spring sunshine came straight through the suite windows, which is the light you want for the morning portraits. The Rolex, the Jimmy Choos, and the waiting.
The Entertainment
"I have seen a lot of live acts in ten years of weddings, and Sol & The Gang were right up there. Before the guests came through for the reception, Sarah and Cameron got a private set of their own. That is the kind of moment documentary wedding photography is for."
The Portraits The Grand Staircase
Grantley Hall has more backdrops than you can use in a day, but the grand grey staircase is the one not to skip. The scale does the work.
We took a brief moment away from the party for their portraits. No stiff posing, no keeping them from their guests for hours, just the two of them on that staircase.
A venue like this deserves photographs that match it. That is the job.
