Sam + Josh’s Wedding at Sitwell Park Golf Club, Rotherham
I’ve always enjoyed photographing weddings at golf clubs. One of the main things I love about my job is visiting new venues, especially those with plenty of space and a garden. And let’s be honest—most golf clubs are just enormous gardens! This is fantastic for me as a photographer. I see golf clubs as a huge canvas to create and explore, and this is how I approach photographing weddings at them. With so much beautiful space, Sitwell Park Golf Club was no exception. Its stunning scenery provided the perfect backdrop, right in the heart of the Rotherham countryside in South Yorkshire.
Sam and Josh’s wedding was quite untraditional and modern. In a way thought Sam and Josh met each other before the wedding ceremony took place and we did a lot of photos before they even got married, which I found was pretty cool. Do you know what tradition is brilliant but sometimes breaking the mould is even more fun. This meant that we got lots of time to do pictures in this job. The more time I get the more creative I can be. So when Sam and Josh said that they were meeting each other before the wedding for a first look that was music to my ears.
Fortunately, the weather was perfect for an autumn day. There’s just something special about autumn weddings. Honestly, I think it’s one of the best times of year to get married. The trees look incredible with their brown and golden tones. The grass has a softer, more natural hue compared to the bright greens of summer, and everything just looks more picturesque in autumn.
